Earth

Conservation International - Founded in 1987, Conservation International (CI) aims to protect life on Earth and to demonstrate that human societies will thrive when in balance with nature. Our work is inspired by the core values that have been with CI since day one: passion, respect, integrity, optimism, and courage. For two decades, we have worked with our partners to protect life on Earth and to date we have conserved over 143 million terrestrial acres and 80 million acres of marine area; succeeded in helping safeguard 32 million acres of indigenous area; and undertaken carbon projects to benefit local communities in 11 countries.  www.conservation.org

Pesticide Action Network of North America - Pesticide Action Network North America (PANNA) works to  replace pesticide use with ecologically sound and socially just alternatives. As one of five PAN Regional Centers worldwide, we link local and international consumer, labor, health, environment and agriculture groups into an international citizens' action network. This network challenges the global proliferation of pesticides, defends basic rights to health and environmental quality, and works to insure the transition to a just and viable society. Other PAN Regional Centers include PAN Africa, PAN Asia/Pacific, PAN Europe and PAN Latin America. www.panna.org

Earth Island Institute - Earth Island Institute (EEI) develops and supports projects that counteract threats to the biological and cultural diversity that sustain the environment. Through education and activism, these projects promote the conservation, preservation, and restoration of the Earth. Founded in 1982 by veteran environmentalist David Brower, Earth Island Institute fosters the efforts of creative individuals by providing organizational support in developing projects for the conservation, preservation, and restoration of the global environment. EII provides activists the freedom to develop program ideas, supported by services to help them pursue those ideas, with a minimum of bureaucracy.  www.earthislang.org

ForestEthics - Founded in 1994, ForestEthics is an environmental organization with staff in Canada, the United States and Chile. Our mission is to protect endangered forests, and to achieve that goal we've created a revolutionary new approach. The first step is determining which forests are endangered forests. Then, we determine which corporations are purchasing the products of that destruction. If a corporation refuses to change its practices, we hold that company publicly accountable with protests, websites, email campaigns, national advertisements, and more. And when a company is ready to protect Endangered Forests, we help them through our Corporate Action Program. To date, ForestEthics has protected over twelve million acres of endangered forest in British Columbia and Chile. www.forestethics.org

With offices in Sacramento, Los Angeles and Fresno, it is focused on reducing air pollution and strengthening the environmental community. The Coalition for Clean Air was founded over 30 years ago, at a time when clean air in California seemed almost unimaginable. In the 1970's, the air in many parts of the state was choked with smog, taking a serious toll on public health and the environment. Although there is clearly more work to be done, we've come far, and won many significant victories. www.coalitionforcleanair.org
